Stand mixer
Creams butter and kneads dough hands-free.
What it is and why it matters
A stand mixer is a countertop mixer with a bowl that locks in place. It creams butter and sugar, whips egg whites and kneads bread dough while your hands are free. It's the most useful for bread and big batches; many recipes also work with a hand mixer or by hand.
