How a recipe gets in

We read every step. A step is a grown-up step when it uses a knife or another sharp tool (grater, peeler, blender, food processor), anything hot (oven, stove, a hot pan or pot, the microwave), or raw meat or fish. A step that comes right after cooking stays a grown-up step until the food has cooled or the work moves to a cold bowl.

A recipe is a kid helper when it isn't a hard recipe, doesn't deep-fry, and at least 2 of its steps, and at least a third of them, are kid steps. On the recipe page each step says “Kid step” or “Grown-up” and why.

On search and category pages, tick Kid helper under Who's cooking to find these anywhere.
