Ingredients
- ¼ cup rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
- 1 clove garlic, finely grated
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame seeds, toasted
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Steps
- Put the rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, ginger and garlic in a jar and stir until the honey dissolves.
- Add the vegetable oil, screw on the lid and shake hard until the dressing looks blended, about 20 seconds.
- Stir in the sesame seeds and red pepper flakes. Taste it on a piece of cabbage or lettuce and add a little more honey or vinegar to balance.
Tip: Scrape the skin off the ginger with the edge of a spoon before grating; it follows every bump.
Tip: It doubles as a marinade for chicken, pork or tofu. Throw away any marinade that touched raw meat.
Storage: Refrigerate and use within 4 days, since it has fresh garlic and ginger. Shake before using.
