Ingredients
- 2 tbsp chives, very finely chopped
- 2 tbsp parsley, very finely chopped
- 1 tbsp dill, very finely chopped
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup sour cream
- ½ cup buttermilk, plus more to thin
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Steps
- Chop the chives, parsley and dill as finely as you can.
- In a bowl, whisk the mayonnaise and sour cream together until smooth.
- Whisk in the buttermilk and lemon juice until no lumps remain.
- Whisk in the herbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
- Cover and refrigerate so the dried spices soften and the flavors bloom.
- Stir, taste and adjust the salt. For a thinner salad dressing, whisk in more buttermilk 1 tablespoon at a time.
Tip: No fresh dill? Use 1 teaspoon dried dill.
Tip: For a dip, use only 1/4 cup buttermilk.
Storage: Refrigerate in a covered jar up to 5 days, or until the buttermilk's date, whichever is sooner.
Make ahead: It tastes best after a few hours in the fridge, so it is a great make-ahead.
